History

The Brazilian Federation of Friends of Museums (Feambra), a nonprofit organization, was organized in October 10, 1989, to help with the preservation of the national historic sites and legacy.

The policy of the new directorate, lead by Chair José Marcelo Braga Nascimento since 2006, is to foster a closer relationship among associates. It also considers disclosing objectives and action results to society a priority.

As an entity accredited by São Paulo's Culture Department Historic Sites and Legacy Office, Feambra is also acknowledged internationally.
As a member of the WFFM (World Federation of Friends of Museums), Feambra promotes contacts between associates and institutions in more than 30 countries, and also represents associates' intentions and interests, disclosing their work abroad.
